Following from the Traveller Primary Healthcare Programme, County Wexford Partnership set up the Bunclody Pre-Development Project for Traveller Women  in January 2005. The project is also supported and funded by County Wexford VEC, the Health Service Executive – South Eastern Region, and the Department of Social and Family Affairs.

This project has the following aims:

Assess developmental and educational needs of participants

Prepare and build individuals capacity to participate in return to education programmes

bullet

Build individuals capacity and assess participants for possible inclusion in future Traveller Primary Healthcare Programmes

bullet

Increase personal development and job seeking skills

bullet

Develop an awareness of individual and community health needs and issues

The Project currently caters for 22 women from the Bunclody area. The women are participating in a variety of training sessions based upon each individual’s ability. The training sessions include Personal and Interpersonal Skills, Communications and Basic Computers.
